Clyde O. “Jim” Birch Sr.
Died Jan. 2, 2004
LISBON – Clyde O. “Jim” Birch Sr., 75, of Cream Ridge Road, died Friday, Jan. 2, 2004, at East Liverpool City Hospital following a brief illness.
He was born in East Liverpool April 7, 1928, to the late Robert O. Birch and Edith Goddard Hoyt Birch. Living a lifetime in the East Liverpool and Lisbon areas, Mr. Birch retired in 1986 from MacIntosh Hemphill, where he was a craneman. He was self employed as a farmer and was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force, serving in peace time.
Mr. Birch is survived by his wife, Betty Smith Birch, whom he married Sept. 21, 1954, a son, Clyde O. “Jim” Birch Jr. and his wife, Beth of Lisbon; six daughters, Susan Milhoan and her husband Dennis of Wellsville, Christiana Corey of Wellsville, Kellie Moore and her husband Michael of East Liverpool, Margaret “Peggy” Phillis and her husband Scott of Lisbon, Jennifer Guy and her husband Lance of Lisbon and Lynn Birch at home; a half sister, Doris J. Strait of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in deiath by two brothers, James O. Birch and Edwin M. Birch, and half brother, Kenny Hoyt.
Services will be held at the Martin MacLean altmeryer Funeral Home in Calcutta on Monday, Jan. 5, 204, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Robert Jackman of the Glenmoor Apostolic Church officiating.
Burial will follow in Kimble Cemetery in Elkton where the Tri-State Burial Group will accord full military honors.
The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home in Calcutta on Sunday, Jan. 4, 2oo4, form noon to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
