Ruby V. Stewart
Died April 1, 2004
EAST LIVERPOOL – Ruby V. Stewart, 94, of Nentwick’s Convalescent Home, formerly of Alton Street and the Fawcett Apartments, died at 12:15 a.m. Thursday, April 1, 2004, at East Liverpool City Hospital following a brief illness.
Born in Wellsville Jan. 6, 1910, daughter of the late Jesse L. and Rella Sheckler Pelley, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church and its Wesleyan Crusaders Class. Previously, she had been a member of Anderson United Methodist Church.
A lifelong resident of the area, she had worked as a cook at the Fox and Nentwick nursing homes at one time, but retired from M & M Vending.
A member of the Daughters of America Lodge 4 and Ohio City Rebbekahs Lodge 78, she also held membership in the Rebbekahs Club 53.
Her husband, Barton E. Stewart, whom she married Dec. 31, 1940, died March 22, 1965. Two sisters, Clois M. Pelley and Louise E. Hutchison, also preceded her in death.
A daughter, Ida R. Stewart Newlin, and a son, James P. Stewart and his wife Susan, all of East Liverpool, survive.
Four grandchildren, Richard B. Newlin, Ruby A. Newlin, James p. Stewart Jr., and John J. Newlin, all of East Liverpool, also survive.
There are six great-grandchildren, Jeremy W. Newlin, Courtney E. Stewart, Lindsey M. Stewart, Hannah R. Newlin, Zachary N. Newlin and Noah J. Newlin, all of East Liverpool.
Friends may call Sunday at the Dawson Funeral Home, where the family we be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
The Rev. Dave Maly of the church will conduct services at 1:30 ;.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.
Immediately following services, family and friends will gather in fellowship at the Dawson Family Center.
