EAST LIVERPOOL – Dr. J. Keith Rugh, 86, of Ohio Avenue, died at 1:35 p.m Friday, June 26, 1998 at City Hospital following a lengthy illness.
He was born in Bolivar, Pa., Aug. 7, 1911, a son of the late J. L. and Luella Snyder Rugh.
Dr. Rugh practiced medicine in Bolivar before moving to East Liverpool in 1947. He served in the Army Medical Corps from 1941 to 1945 in World War II where he rose to the rank of major. He was a member of the Virginia Military Institute Class of 1933. He graduated from the Temple University Medical School in 1939 and served a surgeon residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical School from 1950 to 1953. He was a board of health member from 1947 to 1992 and was a former deputy coroner for Columbiana County. He was a member of the Columbiana County Medical Society, the American Medical Association and the Virginia Military Institute Alumni Association.
He is survived by his wife, Suzanne Finley Rugh of East Liverpool; two sons, Biff Rugh of Phoenixville, Pa., and Ed M. Rugh of Norman, Okla.; a sister, Libby “Hilda” Lewis of Palm Beach Garden, Fla.; and two grandchildren
He was preceded in death by a son, Ralph E. “Kim” Rugh II, who died Sept. 23, 1995; two sisters; and two brothers.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
The Dawson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
