COLUMBIANA – Thomas J. Davidson, 88, formerly of East Liverpool, died Tuesday, July 10, 2001, at St. Mary’s Alzheimer Center following a brief illness.
He was born in Fredericktown Nov. 11, 1912, the sone of the late Wiliam E “Ted” and Verda Blazer Davidson.
Living his entire life in the area, Mr. Davidson retired Oct. 28, 1974, from the former Crucible Steel Co. in Midland, where he worked as a maintenance welder. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, serving during World War II and was baptized at the College Street Christian Church in Olympia, Wash. He was past commander of American Legion post 374 in East Liverpool and the Columbiana Counsel of American Legions. He was a member of the Negley Masonic Lodge 565, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1506 in East Palestine, past president and life member of Tri-State Organization of La Societte, Auxiliary of State Highway Patrolmen and East Liverpool Veterans Council.
His wife, Elizabeth Tittle Davidson, whom he married in June of 1952, died Jun 9, 1983.
He is survived by three sons, Robert E. Davidson of Negley, Gordon G. Davidson of Columbiana and Richard J. Davidson of Morneo Valley, Calif.; three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Elzie) Legg of Olympia, Wash., Mrs. Ron (Ruth) Geer of East Liverpool and Mrs. Gloyd (Alverda) Dearth of Delaware, Ohio; 36 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents and wife, he also was preceded in death by a son, William G. Davidson.
Services will be held at the Calcutta Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 14, 2001, with Pastor David Elmore of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Marysville, Ohio.
Burial will follow in Crest Haven Memorial Gardens in Rogers, where the Tri-State Veterans Burial Group will accord full military honors.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to8 p.m. Friday, July 13, 2001.
