WEIRTON – John M. Myers, 83, died Sunday, Jan. 25, 2004.
He was born Oct. 29, 1920, in Irondale, Ohio, the son of the late Solomon and Daisy Tice Myers.
He retired from Weirton Steel after working 32 years as a foreman with the labor gang in the coke plant. He also worked 16 years with Louis Berkman Industry.
He was a member of the Weirton Steel 25 year Club.
Besides his parents, He was preceded in death by his wife, Harriett Rudder Myers; a brother, Gene Myers, and two sisters, Wilma Simmon and Janeth Beaver.
He is survived by a son, John Myers and his wife Shirley of Cookers, W.Va.; a daughter, Mrs. Jess (Shirley) Reed of New Cumberland; four grandchildren, Steven Myers and his wife Renee, Scott L. Teed, Todd a. Reed and Angela M. Myers; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved pet “Brownie.”
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the New Cumberland Chapel of the Nixon Funeral Home, with the reverends James Reed and Harry Jackson of the Brooke-Hancock Episcopal Ministries officiating. Interment will follow at New Cumberland Cemetery.
Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. today at the funeral home.
