EAST PALESTINE—William J. Werner, 56, of 148, W. Adam St. died Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at home after suffering a heart attack earlier while unloading coal.
Mr. Werner was born in Pittsburgh Jan. 1, 1911, a son of Adolph Werner and Augusta Mielke Werner, who reside in Mahoningtown, Pa., R.D. 7. he was a machinist for the Pennsylvania Railroad Co., where he worked for 30 years. He had resided in East Palestine for 29 years and was a member of the trinity Presbyterian Church here and the Odd Fellows Lodge of Enon Valley.
He also is survived by his widow, Mrs. Grace L. Shannon Werner, whom he married Dec. 31, 1937; four sons, Kenneth Werner, Wesley Werner, Russell Werner and Lester Werner, all at home and two brothers, Harry Werner of Mahoningtown and Walter Werner of New Galilee, R. D. 1.
Ser vices will by held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at eh VanDyke Funeral Home in East Palestine by the Rev. Thomas Hammerton of the Centenary Methodist Church and the Rev. Andrew Wilch of the Grace Lutheran Church, both of East Palestine. Burial will be in Glenview Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.
