TORONTO – A Requiem High Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church here for Joseph A. Barlas, 79, of 11o4 N. 5th St., who died Sunday at 1 a.m. at home after a brief illness.
The Rt. Rev. Msgr. Andrew R. Beros will be the celebrant. Burial will be in Toronto Union Cemetery.
Mr. Barlas was born Dec. 22, 1891, in Czechoslovakia, a son of Andrew and Mary Gofus Barlas. He retired 12 years ago from the Weirton Steel Co., where he worked as a laborer in the 54-Inch Strip Mill. He was a member of St. Jospeh Church and its Holy Name Society and the Toronto Jednota Lodge.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Anna Hromi Barlas, at home; five daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Mary) DelFiandra, Mrs. Alf (Margaret) Zekas and Pete (Agnes) Ferrelli, all of Steubenville, Mrs. Joseph (Ann Catherine) Candal of Toronto, and Miss Eleanor Barlas at home; a son John P. Barlas of Toronto, 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Friends may call tonight from 7 to 9 at Turel Funeral Home here, where the Rosary will be recited at 8.
