Mrs. Mary Ballantine, 79, widow of Hugh Ballantine, East Liverpool’s last Civil War veteran, died Thursday at 3:20 p.m. at City hospital following a six-week illness. She resided at 211 West Third st.
Mrs. Ballantine was born Nov. 20, 1873, in Fredericktown, a daughter of Samuel G. and Josephine Laughlin Patterson, and was a member of the Second Presbyterian church and the G. A. R. auxiliary.
Surviving are two brothers, Thomas L. Patterson and John G. Patterson of East Liverpool.
Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Kelly funeral home by Rev. Arthur E. French Jr. pastor of the First Presbyterian church. Burial will be in Beaver cemetery. Friends may call tonight from 6 to 10 at the funeral home.
