John Mercer

John N. Mercer, 91, of Hookstown R. D. 1, a Greene Township road worker since 1900, died Friday night at Osteopathic Hospital after a long illness.
A native of Beaver County, he was born /Aug. 1, 1874, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Mercer. For 48 years he has held offices of auditor, supervisor, secretary and treasurer. He also served as secretary and director of the Beaver County Fair Board in New Brighton. He was a member of the Beaver County Agricultural Association, Beaver County Pomona Grange, Hookstown Grange, Mill Creek Cemetery Board and the Mt. Pleasant United Presbyterian Church, near Monaca, where he served as elder emeritus.
He leaves a son, Joe A. Mercer of Hookstown, R. D.; two daughters, Mrs. Harold (Mary Elizabeth) Cain of Hookstown R. D. 1 and Mrs. Richard (Louise) Wright of Monaca, and six grandchildren.
Srevices will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Welch Funeral Home in Hookstown by the Rev. Daryl Davis. Burial will be in Mill Creek Hill Cemetery, Hookstown.
Friends may call a the funeral home after tonight.
