Marjorie Jane Sayers, 82, formerly of Florida Ave., Chester died Saturday, July 19, 2008 in Stonepear Pavilion at Foxcrest, where she had been a resident for the last six years.
She was born May 2, 1926 in Toronto, a daughter of the late Robert Dean and Mary Estella Brown Bryan. She was also preceded in death by her husband Wilbert Harry Sayers; two sisters, Ruthann Bowman and Mary Louise Welch; and graddaughter, Lyann Ann Simmons.
Marjorie retired from the Homer Laughlin China Co. as a time keeper after 27 years of service. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, serving two terss as a deacon and earning a 50 year pin from the choir. She was also a member of the former Chester Woman’s Club, Thursday Night Card Club and local chapters of the American Red Cross and American Society.
She is survived by two sons, Bill Sayers and wife Terri of Calcutta and John Sayers and wife Betsy of Wardensville, WV; two daughters, Linda Simmons and husband Larry of Newell and Patricia Sayers of Chester; grandson, Larry Simmons Jr., wife Valarie and their son Lucas, two special nieces, Judy Pryor and Cindy Nelson and other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at the Westminster Church with Rev. Trina Lewis officiating. Interment followed at the Locust Hill Cemetery.
