LANCASTER, Calif. – JOHN Wardles, 92, formerly of 1806 Danbury Ave., Wellsville, died Monday at the Mayflower Garden Convalescent Center here. He had resided in Lancaster since 1977.
He was born May 16, 1895 in East Liverpool, the son of Edward and Elizabeth Porter Wardles.
He was employed as a finisher at the former Edwin M. Knowles China Co., last working in 1964.
He was a member of the First Christian Church of Wellsville.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl Henthorne, in 1977.
Survivors include two sons, Harry J. Wardles and Kenneth Wardles of Corvallis, Ore.; three daughters, Mrs. John A. (Madeline) Price of Lancaster, Mrs. Arch (Pauline) Pinkerton of Wellsville and Mrs. Claude (Bernice) Emery of Empire; 17 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at MacLean Funeral Home in Wellsville at 1 p.m. Monday, with Pastor Rod Kasler of the church officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
