Delano F. McCartney
Died April 20, 2004

CALCUTTA – Delano F. McCartney, 69, of Duke Road, Calcutta, Ohio, passed away at East Liverpool City Hospital on Tuesday, April 20, 2004, after a lengthy illness.
Mr. McCartney was born in Grantsville, W.Va., on April 14, 1935. The son of Mrs. Coe M. (Hickman) McCartney of Calcutta and the late O. G. McCartney. He had lived most of his life in this area working for 22 years at the former American Vitrified and retiring in 1992 from Ohio Edison working at their Sammis Plant as a Auxiliary Tender.
He was an avid softball player in his younger years and enjoyed camping, fishing and woodworking.
Mr. McCartney is survived by his wife, Nina B. (Godfrey) McCartney whom he married on December 27, 1955.
Other survivors include two sons, Michael D. McCartney and his wife, Nancy , of Marietta, Ohio, and Terry R. McCartney and his wife, Debi, of East Liverpool, Ohio; two brothers, Ersel McCartney of East Liverpool and Ethan McCartney of Streetsboro, Ohio; and three grandchildren, Art McCartney of East Liverpool, ad Erin and Kelsie McCartney of Marietta, Ohio.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Parker McCartney; and a sister, Ureta Simpson.
Services will be held at the Calcutta Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Home at 11 p.m. on Saturday, Arpil 24th, 2004, with Rev. Ralph Compa Officiating.
Burial will follow in the United Presbyterian Cemetery of Calcutta.
The family will be present to receive friends at the Calcutta Chapel on Friday, April 23, 2004, form 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Family and friends will gather at the Martin MacLean Altmeyer East Liverpool Chapel and Hospitality Center at 145 W. 5th Street for food and fellowship immediately after the service.
