LEETONIA – Dorothy Mae Rardin, 81, formerly of Wellsville, died Thursday, April 15, 2004, at the Nentwick convalescent Home following a lengthy illness.
She was born Dec. 27, 1922, in East Liverpool, the daughter of the late Leland and Ethel (Russell) Kennedy.
She graduated from East Liverpool High School. Dorothy worked as a bookkeeper for the former Mike Turk Auto Dealership, retiring in 1950. She was a loving wife, mother and homemaker.
Dorothy was an active member of the First Christian Church of Wellsville, where she taught Sunday school, served as treasurer and belonged to the Women’s Fellowship Group. She was also a member of the Wellsville Eastern Star Lodge.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Nobel Ellsworth Rardin, who died Aug. 12, 2002. They were married May 12, 1951.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Susan Marie Elliott and her husband David of Leetonia, with whom she resided, and Mrs. Harriet Ann Anderson of Clinton, Pa.; a son, David Wayne Rardin and his wife Gloria of Clinton; 11 grandchildren ; 18 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Daniel, and her brother, Richard Kennedy.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, April 19, at the Roberts Funeral Home in Wellsville, with the Rev. Duane Hetzer of the East Liverpool City Hospital chaplaincy department presiding. Burial will follow in Columbiana County Memorial Park in East Liverpool.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
