Sarah F. Purton
Died April 23, 2004

WELLSVILLE – Sarah F. Purton, 79, formerly of Y. & O. Road, who had resided for the last five years at Adkins Convalescent Center No. 1, died at 5:05 a.m. Friday, April 23, 2oo4, at East Liverpool City Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Born in East Liverpool Nov. 4, 1924, daughter of Felix J. and Frances Sayre Savage, she was a member of the East Liverpool High School Class of 1942
A member of St. Agatha’s Catholic Church in West Point, she was a lifelong resident of the area. At one time she worked at Hall China, and she retired from the Columbiana County ‘board of Elections in 1987.
An avid bowler and golfer, she participated in many local, state and national bowling competitions. A former member of the Tri-Angle Seniors, she also held membership in the East Liverpool High School Alumni Association.
Her husband, William E. Purton, whom she married May 17, 1947, survives at home.
A daughter, Mrs. William (Mary) Claney of warren and a son, Patrick W. Purton and his wife Mary Rose of Struthers, survive.
Ther are three grandchildren, Julie Detchson and her husband Scott of Boardman, Patricks S. Purton and his wife Renee of Austintown, and Gloria R. Purton of Austintown.
A step-great-granddaughter, Tara Detchson, also survives.
A son, Daniel C. Purton, and two brothers, William J. Savage and Patrick Savage, preceded her in death.
Friends may cal Sunday at the Dawson Funeral Home, where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Fr. Robert Edwards will be celebrant of a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church.
Burial will be in Columbiana County Memorial Park.
Immediately following the services, family and friends will gather in fellowship at the Dawson Family Center.
