LISBON – James F. May Sr., 85, of state Route 45, died at 5:16 p.m. Sunday, July 29, 2001, at home following a lengthy illness.
He was born in East Palestine Sept. 23, 1915, a son of the late Ira and Lillian French May.
He had been employed as a furnace operator at the former TRW in Minerva before retiring. He served with the U. S. Army Air Force during World War II and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lisbon.
He is survived by his wife, Leona A. Kuester May; four sons, Ronald G. May of Lisbon, James F. May Fr. Of Kensington, James H. May of Wenahitchka, Fla., and Rickie F. May of New Waterford; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Sandy) Bilsky of Hanoverton; 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
The Rev. David Nikkel of the church will conduct services at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Weber Funeral Home. Burial will be in Lisbon Cemetery.
Friends may call a the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.

NEW CUMBERLAND –Glen L. Arnott, 62, died Saturday, July 28, 2001, at Weirton Medical Center.
He was born in Lisbon Feb. 5, 1939, a son of the late Sarah Alice Barrett Arnott.
He attended Wells High School in Newell and received his G.E.D. while serving in the U. S. Air Force. He was honorably discharged from the service. He retired after 33 years with Weirton Steel Co., last working as a pipe fitter. He was a member of the Weirton Steel 25 Year Club and was a member of the Tomlinson Run Church of Christ.
Glenn was a loving husband, father and friend who enjoyed fishing and his work.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Shirley Kenney Arnott, at home; a daughter and son-in-law, James and Sarah Arnott McIntosh of New Cumberland; a son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Cynthia Arnott of Greenfield, Wis.; two grandchildren, Brandon Arnott and Courtney Lynn Arnott; and two brothers, Robert Arnott of Mentor, Ohio and Alan Arnott of Ohio.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Newell Chapel of the Nixon Funeral Home, with Minister Paul Blake of the church officiating. Interment will be private.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

CALCUTTA -- James V. Harsha Sr., 85, of Crestvue Place, passed away at East Liverpool City Hospital Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002 after a lengthy illness.
The son of the late Elzie C. and Stella Ruth (Flint) Harsha, he was born in East Liverpool March 26, 1917, and lived his entire life here.
Jim was the owner-operator of the former Harsha’s Pennzoil in Calcutta for more than 30 years, last working in 1979. His commitment to his faith was evident by a sign that appeared in with window of his station that read, “Closed Sunday, try the Lord’s service, it’s better than ours.” He had also fixed many flat bike tires for the children of the area at no charge.
He was a graduate of the East Liverpool High School Class of 1935 and a veteran of the U. S. Navy, having served during World War II. Jim was also an active member of the East Liverpool Church of the Nazarene, where he was a former elder. He was also a past president and helped with the teaching of the Home Builders Class of the church. He enjoyed meeting on Mondays with fellow men of the church to do needed repairs in and around the church.
When the Calcutta fire siren sounded, Jim could be seen at the intersection in front of his station, directing traffic for the fire department.
He is survived by his wife of 64, years, Erma V. (Barnhart) Harsha, whom he married Sept. 19, 1939; two sons and daughters-in law, James V. Harsha II and his wife roxie of Calcutta and Lee C. Harsha and his wife Tonia of Clearwater, Fla.; a sister, Ila M. Horger of Calcutta; six grandchildren, Beth Wan, Amy Cunningham, Jim Harsha, Crystal Harshberger, Shannon Janzen and Tonya Janzen; and three great-grandchildren, Caylee Cunningham, LeeAnn Shehan Harsha and Troy Harshberger.
In addition to his parents, a brother, Thomas Harsha, preceded Jim in death.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Calcutta Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes, with Pastor Larry Hall of the church officiating.
Burial will follow in the Calcutta United Presbyterian Cemetery.
The family will be present to receive friends at the Calcutta Chapel today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

CLEVELAND -- Bertha C. Bailey, 86, of Crawford Road, formerly of First Avenue in East Liverpool, died at 5:45 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 31, 2002, at University Hospital in Cleveland following a lengthy illness.
Born in Tuscaloosa, Ala., May 13, 1916, a daughter of the late Rufus and Arnetta Wallace Cook, she spent most of her life in East Liverpool.
A member of New Hope Baptist Church, she served as president of the Pastors’ Aid auxiliary and was a past president of the Altar guild and the Naomi Missionary Society. In 1973, she organized a prayer band in her First Avenue home, as well as a counseling ministry.
Her husband, Dallas Bailey, died Sept. 9, 1955. Four brothers, Rufus, James, Willie and Miller Cook, preceded her in death along with four sisters, Nellie Mae Wright, Angeline Murray, Connie Cook and Naomi Murphy. Dennis Bailey a grandson, also preceded her in death.
A son, Miller Bailey and his wife Leola of Cleveland, survive.
A sister, Blanche Murphy of Bluefield, W.Va., also survives along with five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Friends may call Friday at the Dawson Funeral Home, where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
The Rev. Rolland Owens of the church will conduct services at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Antonio J. “Tony” Braancazio, 81, of New Cumberland, passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2008 at the Weirton Medical Center.
Antonio was born January 15, 1927 in Yorkville, OH the son of the late Pasquale and Angela DiLullo Brancazio. He was also preceded in death by his wire, Dorothy Hillis Brancazio; his sister, Domenica Mozzone, and brothers, Joseph Brancazio and Dr. Dominic Brancazio, all of Weirton.
Antoniois survived by his partner, Virginia Prendes; brothers, John Barnacazio of Paris; Cosmo Brancazio of Weirton; sisters, Mary Rollison and Mrs. Tony (Lena) Paolo of Weirton, two step sons, Randy and Robert Hillis of South Carolina and fifteen nieces and nephews.
He retired from Weirton Steel where he was a supervisor in the Sheet Mill. Antonio served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. An avid golfer, he enjoyed Thoroughbred horse racing.
Per Antonio’s request, there was no public viewing.
The Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester is in charge of arrangements.

Margaret LaNeve Falascino, 85, died on Thursday, April 24, 2008 at Friendship Ridge in Beaver, PA. Prior to moving to Beaver, Margaret had been a forty year resident of Dormont, PA.
She was born February 10, 1923 in Newell, a daughter of the late Dominick and Josephine Pranno LaNeve. She was also preceded in death by her husband; five sisters, Antoinette Peluso, Frances Manypenny, Rose Ruggire, Mary Yanni and Delores Adkins and a brother, James LaNeve.
Before marrying the late John Falascino and moving to Pennsylvania, Margaret had worked as a clerk for the Equitable Insurance Company in East Liverpool.
Margaret had been an active and involved Catholic all her life and had been a member of the St. Aloysius Community Parish where she was involved in the altar & Rosary Society and the Catholic Daughters of America.
She is survived by three sisters, Dorothy Hicks of East Liverpool and Rita and Ann LaNeve of Newell, as well as several devoted nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Rev. Father Bernard N. Gaeta was the celebrant for a mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at St Aloysius Community Parish. Interment followed at the Queen of Heavens Cemetery in McMurray, PA. Arner Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to the tribute program at St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942

Mary Lucille Beaver, 88, of Warsaw, OH, passed away Sunday, Aril 20, 2008 at the Coshocton Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born March 10, 1920 in Sistersville, a daughter of the late Ove and Lorena (Curry) Grimm. She was also preceded in death by a son, Tommy Beaver; a daughter, Becky Bookless and a granddaughter, Brandi Bookless.
She married the Rev. Wilbur Beaver on Oct. 15, 1938. They were married for 69 years.
Mrs. Beaver was a member of the Warsaw Nazarene Church. She loved to crochet.
She is survived by her husband, Wilbur of Dresden’ a son, Charles P. (Carol J.) Beaver of Dover; two sisters, Marjorie Stead of Sistersville and Joann (Ray) Chaney of Texas; a brother, Herbert (Maxine) Grimm of Crossroads, TN; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at the Fischer Funeral Home with Pastor Steven Ward and Pastor Scott Robinson officiating. Interment followed at the South Lawn Cemetery.

June A. Ray, 70, of New Cumberland, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2008 at the Kindred Hospital, Oakdale, PA.
She was born September 18, 1937 in Palestine, WVa. Daughter of the late Comadore P. and Alice L. (Kearnes) Westfall. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William J. Ray; three brothers, Dallas, Merle and Bubbie Westfall; two sisters, Margarie Troy and Edith McGee and a nephew, Todd Ferrel.
June was the retired owner of Petite Dry Cleaners, a member of the New Cumberland First Presbyterian Church, the VFW Post #3526 Ladies Auxiliary and the Steubenville Moose Chapter #586.
She is survived by her son, Mark (Hazel) Lowe of Weirton; three sisters, Madeline Greathouse Torch, OH, Betty (Carl) Leasure of New Cumberland and Geraldine Walker of Weirton; three brothers, Donald (Mary) Westfall of Leavittsburg, OH and Gilford Westfall and Gerald (Shirley) Westfall, all of Newton Falls, OH; two grandsons, Patrick and Branden Lowe of Weirton; her friend Floyd Grandy and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Monday, May 5, 2008 at 1 p.m. at the Turley Funeral Home with Rev. Frank Lewis officiating. Interment followed at the new Cumberland, Cemetery.

Donald Lee Sponaule, 67, passed away peacefully at his home in Naples, FL on Thursday, July 3, 2008 after a brae battle with colon cancer.
Don and his family were life long residents of the Ohio Valley until their move to Naples last fall. For the last 50 years he was a proud member of the Iron Worker’s Local union #549.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Carl and Virginia Sponaugle and his brother, Thomas Leon Sponaugle.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Lola Hudson Sponaugle; a daughter, Veronica (Thomas) Gorrell of Phenix City, AL; a son, John (Heather) Sponaugle of Naples; two sisters, Jean (Bill) Robinson of Beaver Creek, OH and Lois (Tom) Maracus of Myrtle Beach, SC and a brother, Ronald Sponaugle of New London, CT; two granddaughters, AnneMarie Patricia Gorell and Olivia Dawn Gorrell and two step-grandsons, Anthony Mercurio III and John R. Mercurio of Naples.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Turley Funeral Home with Rev. Sam Retzer officiating. Interment followed at the Union Cemetery, New Manchester.

Donald Lee Sponaule, 67, passed away peacefully at his home in Naples, FL on Thursday, July 3, 2008 after a brae battle with colon cancer.

She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Section.
She is survived by two daughters, Trina of Long Island, NY and Patricia of Las Vegas; a son, John Jr. and a grandson, Jeremy of New Cumberland.

He was born July 28, 1951 in Steubenville, the son of Arthur D. and Wilda J. Kuhens Cain.

Clara “Bunny” Clark, 88, of New Cumberland passed away Monday, May 12, 2008.
She was born August 17, 1919,in Zalia, the daughter of the late Samuel and Ella Canner (*Canter) Vincent. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, William McLaughlin; her second husband, Andrew Clark; a brother, John Vincent and two sisters, Pearle Cullen and Mable Fagen.
Bunny started out working as an aide, then became a cook a the Hancock County Children’s Home, and also cleaned homes. She was a member of the New Cumberland Free Methodist Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Karen Myers and Husband Stephen of Oklahoma and Elizabeth “Betty” Skinner of New Cumberland; a son, William McLaughlin of New Cumberland; seven grandchildren, Barbara Bunch, Tommy Allen, Dale Allen, Chester Ray Martin, William A McLaughlin, Chick Skinner and Scott Skinner; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, May 15, 2008 at the New Cumberland Chapel of the Nixon Funeral Home with Pastor Chuck Thomas officiating. Interment followed at the Union Cemetery in New Manchester.

He was born August 12, 1952 in New Martinsville, a son of Harry Nice Jr. and Daisy Anderson Nice of New Manchester.
Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Susan Nice; maternal grandparents, Vespur and Bertha Anderson and paternal grandparents, Harry and alma Nice.
He worked for 27 years as a tin mill operator at Weirton Steel. He was a member of the 25 Year Club and a Protestant by faith.

Forest Leason Jenkins, 73, of Colliers, passed away Sunday, May 18, 2008 at his residence.
He was born August 18, 1934 in Middlebourne, a son of the late James E. and Elsie (Mercer) Jenkins. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Eva J. (Smith) Jenkins; two brothers, Carl L. Jenkins and James Jenkins; a sister, Zetta Ash and a grandson, Justin Lee Jenkins.
He retired from Weirton Steel Corporation where he worked as an electrician and or bridge operator for 35 years. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness in Weirton.
Surviving are three daughters, Laura Lee Sawon and Valerie Jean Tibbs, both of Colliers and Victory Lynn Hutchison of Weirton; six sons, Forest Leason Jenkins Jr., Neal Curtis Jenkins, Paul Micah Jenkins, John Alan Jenkins, Ckifford Ellis Jenkins and Daniel Dean Jenkins, all of Colliers; a sister Alice Haught of New Cumberland; 22 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Orpha Anderson, 87, of 361 Buckeye Ave., Wellsville, a former hot mill worker and potter, died Tuesday at 6p.m. at the Graystone Nursing Home in Wellsville where she had been a patient a year.
Mr. Anderson was born Jan. 17, 1880 in Jackson County, W. Va., a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Nathaniel Anderson. He had resided in Wellsville the greater part of his life. He worked at the former American Sheet and Tin Plate Co. in Wellsville and after it closed in 1932 he worked in local potteries. His wife, Mrs. Sadie Anderson, died July 16, 1957.
He is survived by two sons, James A. Anderson of East Liverpool R. D. and Charles Anderson of Parkersburg, W. Va.; a daughter, Mrs. Eynon (Ruth) Friess of Glenmoor; two brothers, Forest Anderson of Belleville, W. Va., and Walter Anderson of Iowa; a sister, Mrs. Victoria Kerr of Parkersburg, 12 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the MacLean Funeral Home in Wellsville by the Rev. Robert H. Schondelmayer of the Wellsville First Christian Church. Burial will be in Yellow Creek Cemetery.

Services for Mrs. Lena Moore Richards, 79, a former resident of East Liverpool, were held at 1 p.m. at the Billow Falls Chapel in Cuyahoga Falls by Dr. Lloyd G. Schell. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery there.
Mrs. Richards died Tuesday at the Middlebury Manor Nursing Home in Akron after a lingering illness.
She was born in Pittsburgh in 1888 and had resided in East Liverpool for 27 years, where she owned and operated the Moore Beauty Sop for 18 years. She later moved to Summit County, where she lived for 27 years. Her last place of residence was Cuyahoga Falls.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Cuyahoga Falls and a charter member of Krumroy Unit 1 Senior Citizens.

Services for Mrs. Lena Moore Richards, 79, a former resident of East Liverpool, were held at 1 p.m. at the Billow Falls Chapel in Cuyahoga Falls by Dr. Lloyd G. Schell. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery there.
Mrs. Richards died Tuesday at the Middlebury Manor Nursing Home in Akron after a lingering illness.
She was born in Pittsburgh in 1888 and had resided in East Liverpool for 27 years, where she owned and operated the Moore Beauty Sop for 18 years. She later moved to Summit County, where she lived for 27 years. Her last place of residence was Cuyahoga Falls.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Cuyahoga Falls and a charter member of Krumroy Unit 1 Senior Citizens.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Dixie Nicholson, and a sister, Mrs. Louella Jennings both of Cuyahoga Falls, four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was admitted to the hospital Friday morning after an illness of six months.
A member of the Steubenville Presbytery, Rev. McCoy was graduated from Bethany College at Bethany, W. Va. He was born at Claysville, Pa., August 22, 1887, a son of Joseph and Amy Morris McCoy. He lived here for seven years.
A former resident of East Liverpool, he had been serving as a supply minister for the Bethel Church near Highlandtown.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Jean Louage McCoy, at the home; three daughters, Miss Catherine McCoy at home, Mrs. Naomi Crinfield of Lisbon and Mrs. Lois White of Weirton, a step Mother, Mrs. Flora McCoy of Cleveland; two sisters, Mrs. G. He was born Jan. 14, 1891, in Cabo Verde Island, Portugal, but had resided in Midland 53 years. He was employed at the Midland Crucible Division of Colt Industries and was a member of the Presentation Catholic Church.
He is survived y his widow, Mrs. Jennie Gomez, at home; four daughters, Mrs. Edith Silva of Midland, Mrs. Madeline Oxford of Washington, D. C, Mrs. Olivia Hayes of East Liverpool and Mrs. /Daisy Tavares of Canton; two sons, Amos Gomez and Charles Gomez of Midland, nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was born in Pittsburgh Feb. 6, 1945, a son of Mrs. Doris Shelton Boyleof Median and the late Herbert Lee Boyle.
Dr. Boyle had practiced wholistic medicine nine years in East Palestine since moving from Portland, Ore. Earlier, he practiced at the Mantell Clinic in Cranberry, Pa. He was Methodist by faith.
Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife, Karen S. Echard Boyle, whom he married March 7, 1980, three sons, Lee Boyle, Jack Boyle and Steve Boyle, at home; and two sisters, Mrs. Richard (Carole) Wasnich of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Mrs. William (Lee Ann) Heller of Wauwatosa, Wic.

EAST PALESTINE – Dr. Wade Francis Boyle, 48, of Neely Manor Boulevard died at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 3, 1993, of malignant melanoma following a brief illness.
He was born in Pittsburgh Feb. 6, 1945, a son of Mrs. Doris Shelton Boyleof Median and the late Herbert Lee Boyle.
Dr. Boyle had practiced wholistic medicine nine years in East Palestine since moving from Portland, Ore. Earlier, he practiced at the Mantell Clinic in Cranberry, Pa. A Mass of Christian Burial is to be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. at St. John Fisher Catholic Church by Fr. Michael Gromezewiski and Fr. Kenneth Uram.

ROGERS – Foyn E. Wright, 58, of RD 1, a retired steel worker, died Wednesday at 8:26 a.m. at Salem Community Hospital East, where he had been a patient for 10 days. He had been ailing with a heart condition.
A native of Elkrun Township, Mr. Wright was born Oct. 13, 1913, a son of Norman Wright of Rogers and the late Mary Morris Wright. He had resided in the Rogers area his lifetime. He retired in 1967 from the Midland Crucible Division of Colt Industries.
Mr. Wright served in World War II from 1942-1945, including the European Theater. He was a member of the Rogers Christina Church, the DAV and was active in school function. He was married March 11, 1945, to the former Eleanor Merritt, who survives at home.

Martin J. Gill, 73, potter, 245 West Third st., died Sunday at 11 a.m. in City hospital from an illness of pneumonia, which followed a fall.
Mr. gill was admitted to the hospital two weeks ago with a broken left hip received in a fall while walking on Fourth st.
He spent his lifetime in East Liverpool. He was a caster and was employed at the Taylor, Smith & Taylor Co. in Chester. He was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic church and of the National Brother hood of Operative Potters.
Mr. Gill leaves two sons, Dr. Wilfred Gill of Cleveland, and Vincent Gill of Washington, and a sister, Mrs. Celia Farmer of West Fourth st.
The body was taken to Cleveland for funeral services probably on Wednesday. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s cemetery in Cleveland.

He spent his lifetime in East Liverpool. He was a caster and was employed at the Taylor, Smith & Taylor Co. in Chester. He was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic church and of the National Brother hood of Operative Potters.
Mr. Gill leaves two sons, Dr. Wilfred Gill of Cleveland, and Vincent Gill of Washington, and a sister, Mrs. Celia Farmer of West Fourth st.
The body was taken to Cleveland for funeral services probably on Wednesday. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s cemetery in Cleveland.

Richard E. Moninger, 42, of Farmers Branch, Tex, a pottery executive when he resided in East Liverpool, died suddenly Wednesday at his home. An autopsy was to be conducted there today to determine the cause of death.
A World War Ii veteran in the Army Air Corps, he was born her to Harvey J. Moninger and Minta Huston Moninger, leaving in June 1961 to reside at Farmers Branch, a suburb of Dallas.
Mr. Moninger was vice president and sales manager of the Wellsville China Co. before the firm merged with Sterling China Co. in 1959. He remained with Wellsville China until a little over a year ago.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Winifred W. Moninger and a daughter, Miss Ann Moninger, both at home; a brother, W. Harvey Moninger of Louisville, Ky., and two sisters, Mrs. Ruth M. Brown and Mrs. William E. Pickin, both of East Liverpool.

She is survived by two other daughters, Mrs. Lois Morrow of Salineville and Mrs. Verne Borchert of Cleveland; two sons, Charles Goddard and Merald Goddard of Salineville; a sister, Mrs. Anna Kellogg of Salineville, and 15 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. from the Church of Christ by the pastor, Rev. H. D. Martin. Burial will be in Woodland cemetery.

Frank L. Custer, a former trustee of Yellow Creek Township, died at 5:25 a.m. in City Hospital, where he had been a patient four days. He was 86.
Mr. Custer had resided in Lisbon for the last seven months and had been a patient in City Hospital before being transferred here.
He was born in Madison Township Jan. 12, 1873, and resided in the Wellsville vicinity for nearly 70 years. He had been employed as a heater in the hot mill department of the former Wellsville works of the American Sheet & Tin Plate Co. until the plant closed in 1931.
Mr. Custer served more than 20 years as a township trustee and was a member of the Republican Central Committee in Yellow Creek Township. He was a member of Wellsville Masonic Lodge 180, East Liverpool Knights Templar and the Madison Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by five half-brothers, Ray Burbick and Ira Burbick of East Liverpool; Fred Burbick of Pompano Beach, Fla., Walter Burbick of Atlanta, Ga., and Clark Burbick of Newton Falls, and a half-sister, Mrs. Lulu Huffman of Bellflower, Calif.
Services will be held Wednesday at 2p.m. at the MacLean Funeral Home in Wellsville by the Rev. Richard Beidler of the Madison Presbyterian Church. Burial will be Springhill Cemetery.

He was a member of the Newell American Legion and the Chester Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a former member of the Waterford Park Softball League. He was an avid hunter and a Methodist by faith.
Besides hi mother, he is survived by his wife, Debra Stine Gamble of Newell; two sons, David D. Gamble of Newell and Caleb Gamble; a stepdaughter, Zoe Schmidinger of North Carolina; two brothers, Joe Gamble of Newell and Gary Gamble and his wife Marcy of Newell; three nephews, Joe, Jared and Gary; and a niece, Shannon.

A daughter of late Harvey and Elsie Heckathorn McCoy, she was born on Aug. 15, 1916.
Elsie had owned and operated restaurants in the Chester area, and had worked at various restaurants throughout the tri-state area. She was a member of the Chester Church of the Nazarene, and was active in its Sunshine Sunday school class. She had formerly been a member of the Shippingport United Presbyterian Church.
Her first Husband, Ziska Gamble, preceded her in death along with her second Husband, Floyd Moore. In addition, a daughter, Elsie Gamble , a son Leroy H. Gamble, a grandson, Michael J. Slasor, and a great-granddaughter. Darian R. Slasor also prededed her.
A daughter, Alice Warrick and her husband, Dick of East Liverpool survive, along with a step son John Moore of Texas. Also surviving are three step daughters, Helen Chapman of Lisbon, Eleanor Birdwell and Janice Moore of Texas. Her brothers, Charles McCoy Sr. and Harvey A. McCoy of East Liverpool also survives along with a sister, Francis Miller of Chester. Grandchildren surviving are Jonnie Lorah, Tammie Gamble, Lorrie Moore, David W. Slasor, Douglas L. Slasor, Christopher A. Slasor, and Connie L. Slasor. In addition, there are 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The Rev. Tim Haynes will conduct services on Firday at 11 a.m. at the Chester Church of the Nazarene. Interment will follow at Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens in Newell. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 at the Newell Chapel of the Nixon Funeral Home, where Pastor James Thomson of the First Evangelical Presbyterian Church of East Liverpool will officiate services Thursday at 11 a.m.
Interment will follow at Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens of Newell.

CHESTER – Harold L. Shepherd, passed away Monday, Dec. 8, 2003.
He was born Feb. 19, 1945, in East Liverpool, the son of Edith Bland Shepherd of Chester and the late Carl Shepherd.
He was a U. S. Marine Veteran, having served during the Vietnam War, and had presently been staff Sergeant with the Pennsylvania Army National Guard, Company B 28th Signal Battalion in Beaver Falls. A 1963 graduate of Chester High School, he worked as an operator with the West Virginia Department of Highways. He was a member of the Chester Untied Methodist Church, and the Chester Masonic Lodge 142, where he served as secretary and was Past District Deputy Grand Master. He was a member of the Shriners, Scottish Rite, and Eastern Star, where he served as a past patron.
Besides his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Miller.
He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda Anderson Shepherd at home; two sons, Brian Shepherd and his wife Valerie of Hudson, Fla., and John Shepherd of Fort Jackson, S. C.; a daughter, Dawn Shaw and her husband Jeff of East Liverpool; four grandchildren, Daniel, Amber, Brian and Brandon ; and two sisters, Helen Shipley and her husband Oscar of Kissimee, Fla., and Doris Hall and her husband David of Sunrise, Fla.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Newell Chapel of the Nixon Funeral Home, with the reverends James R. Dunmire and Debbie Dague officiating. Interment will follow at t Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens of Newell, where the Pennsylvania Army National Guard, Company B 28th Signal Battalion, will accord military services.

EAST LIVERPOOL – Friday, Dec. 12, 2003, Bearl F. Williams, 90, went to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He passed away in his sleep, slipping from our world to his eternal home.
He was born in East Liverpool, Nov. 11, 1913, the son of the late John and Mary Cline Williams.
He worked at Crucible Steel until his retirement in 1974. He was a member of he Bible Holiness Church and spent many hours after his retirement in the work of the Lord, being groundskeeper at Clinton Holiness Camp, Sunday School superintendent. Sunday School Teacher, and song leader. He enjoyed carpentry, attending church services and the reading and study of God’s word. he was a loving husband and devoted father.
He was preceded in death by his wife and the mother of his children, Dorothy Bolin Williams, who died in March 1993; his first-born son, Robert Leroy Williams, who died in infancy; his first grandchild, David Robert Williams; and a stepson, John Snow. He was also preceded in death by all of his brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Georgiana Hart Snow Williams as well as sons and daughters-in-law, Ted and Mimi Williams, David and Faye Williams, Dan and Sharon William, and Keith and Susie Williams, along with a daughter and son-in-law, with whom he resided, Valerie and Jim Vernaccini. Bearl was especially proud of his grandchildren, Rita, Mimi, Holly, Pam, Brenda, Todd, Brad and Corey, along with great-grandchildren, Samira, Calmille, Cameron, Emily, Allison, Joseph, Zachary, Ariel, Hannah, Randy, Nicole, Jaquelyne and David Damian. He thought of his beloved niece and caregiver, Donna Malone as a daughter, and was very fond of her son, Christian.
He was also blessed with stepchildren, Carolyn Coursin, Shirley Tinkey and her husband Loye and Willis Snow and his wife Jackie as well as step-grandchildren and stp-great-grandchildren. He also leaves many wonderful friends and extended family members.
The family would like to invite all to share in the celebration of his life at the Calcutta Chapel of the Martin-MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Home, where services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, with the Rev. Paul Treese of the Pleasant Hill Wesleyan Methodist Church and the Rev. David Comfort of the Bible Missionary Church officiating.
Burial will follow in the Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens at Newell.
The family will be present to receive friends Monday at the funeral home in Calcutta from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
